PROTECTION AGAINST DUST IN THE WORKPLACE

Creating a healthier working environment

As legislation changes, so too do our work practices and techniques

Dust is not always an obvious health hazard as the particles which cause the most damage, are often invisible to the naked eye and the health effects of exposure can take many years – HSE DUSTHUB

Many demolition processes create dust and if the ill effects of dust, wasn’t enough our industry also generates Silica Dust.

We at Fibrem Limited take the ill effects of dust very seriously and have been working to revise work practices and techniques as far as reasonably possible to capture dust as it arises and generally reducing the amount of airborne dust present in the atmosphere on our sites.

We have introduced Air Cubes into sites that work quietly away in the background filtering the air and removing airborne dust and making the environment a safer place to be.

The sweeping brush has been replaced with H and M Type Vacuums

We have imported Dust Shrouds from the USA that securely fix to our reciprocating saws and connect to the vacuums to remove 99% of dust generated during cutting works.

Hand-held water Atomising Sprays are used in certain circumstances when the vacuum proves to be ineffective during certain practices when dealing with breaking concrete etc we spray a mixture of water and PVA solution through garden pump sprays to control any dust arising from the practice.

Our last line of defence is PPE with all site operatives being face fitted and wear either Sundstrom or JSP half face respirators that are fitted with FP3 filters together with more specialised filters depending upon the practice being executed.
