The Broughton Trust

Fibrem Limited is extremely proud to have partnered with The Broughton Trust , a charity organisation based in Salford. Together we are able to offer young person’s relevant construction training and paid work experience placements on our projects throughout the North West. Our partnership with the Broughton Trust to help the hidden NEET category of people; those people who are not known to government bodies and currently Not in Employment, Education or Training.

Very little is known about the lived experience of young people who are NEET but also ‘hidden’ from mainstream welfare services. This is the case both at a national level and locally in Salford.

Initially, with our help, the individuals will complete their CSCS Health and Safety Operatives Test. This will be followed by Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, Face Fit RPE and other site specific training that will assist them in their quest for future employment within the Construction Industry.

Whilst on site each person will work alongside a trained mentor who will supervise them and train them on various activities being carried out on site.

At the end of the placement the individual will have site-based training and a reference with which we would hope to find place them with an employer  who could take on where we left off!

To date, the partnership has had great success and has been invaluable for the majority of people who attend the placement with most having now gone into full time work in other areas of construction; we have managed to retain a number of them ourselves too.
